Lathe of Heaven
Monday, 17 November 2003
I recently read the book, "Lathe of Heaven" by Ursula K. Le Guin, and found it to be a very interesting book. It's about a guy who changes reality through dreams. I he dreams a person doesn't exist, that person has never been born. And since it is thorugh dreams, he can't really control them. He tries to stay awake but gets caught using too many drugs. He is asigned to a head doctor who uses this ability of his to change the world as he sees fit. Overall it is a book about how playing god can fuck things up horribly. It was a great book. And once I found out there was a movie I wanted to see it. It was an ok movie, made in 1980. As always the book is better. I don't read many books, since they take a lot of time, and most end up sucking. So that is why I usually watch movies. But overall this movie isn't that good, expessially if you haven't read the book. There are continuity errors like crazy dealing with chronology screw ups and leaving stuff out. They remade the movie later, and I am tempted in searching for it hoping it is better. Overall this seems like a badly made 80's Sci-Fi movie. The story is great, but only in book form. Until next time... Eat a Waffle.
